no answer to your question fungo, but I have one of my own... is it true this is Harvey Foster's last year to run the showcase? if so, has anybody heard who's taking over?

they got a great weekend for it this year -

Coach Hall is taking over the Plainfield Showcase "next" year. The Plainfield showcase is next weekend at Plainfield South and this will be Harvey's last year. As far as Stevenson I've heard rumors but nothing confirmed.

I thought the scout, college coach turnout was quite solid. I believe a great deal for $75.

Rumor has it that Catcher Mario Fearon of Lake Park (Lombard Lightning) went 2 for 2 today with a grand slam in his second at bat. That sounds impressive to me.

My perspective on Stevenson Showcase. Great weekend of baseball, many very good players from all the different conferences. Very Good pitching, defense, hitting and attitudes. To Harvey, I don't know how you get it all done but you did a great job. To all the coaches that put in their time over the weekend, Thnak You!! All of you did a great job giving all the players exposure, playing time and positive reinforcement while giving up a big part of your Fathers day weekend. It shows how much all of you love the game. The scout turnout was also very good for the entire weekend.

i think the upstate 8 had the best group of guys at stevenson. they won both games on pure good pitching, and very good defense. their hitting exploded with men on base, and proved that their conference is the toughest in my eyes.

Fox Valley had a very good team as well... I didn't get to see the Upstate 8 team play, but I think Fox Valley would have had a very good chance against them.

As for turnout because of the PG National...it was very good the first day. Today was so-so.

the upstate 8 didnt have just 2-3 stud pitchers...they had consist good arms throughout the whole game. i think the fire power they had could have shut down alot of teams, maybe even all of them.
