Anyones son or one of the top baseball players still on the gridiron?

Lake Dallas is playing Brownwood tonite in the region semi-finals. Starting quarterback for the Falcons is Chase Baine, starting centerfielder and leadoff hitter. Chase, a senior, has been first team all-district 9-4A the last two years in baseball.

FHS,

We did lose a few. The #1 pitcher (Harden-New Mexico JC), shortstop Chambers (outta baseball),
2nd base (Howard-East Texas Baptist) were our biggest loses. I think with what we have returning we should still be competitive. Maybe even steal a playoff spot. I know you guys will be tough this year and I know my son looks foward to playing ya'll. Good luck FHS!
Maybe not as well-known, but Sophomores Alex Updyke (Mustangs-Sharp) and Trevor Eickman (Mustangs-Abate) are playing football at Garland High who play Leander tonight at Waco ISD. Alex (shortstop) and Trevor (center field) were both Varsity starters as Freshman last year on the baseball team. They both will play tonight. GIG EM, OWLS!!!
PantherSon didn't play his best game tonight as he was pressed into action in the 2nd half, replacing the injured starter (Riko Smalls, broken collar bone -- again). In hindsight, PS probably wasn't as prepared as he could have been --- it's difficult to get practice reps for the backup QB. But....no excuses....East lost to undefeated Spring Westfield, 31-27. Chris Slater missed the game with a knee injury, but he will be as good as new for baseball. East fans are justified in believing the outcome may have been different with Riko leading the team for the entire 48 minutes -- and I know we missed Chris greatly. In my opinion, he was PE's offensive MVP this year. I wish Riko a speedy recovery. The kids will bounce back from their momentary sadness.

I'm proud of PantherSon and his season -- he demonstrated a lot of character in moving from backup to starter & back to backup -- with unyielding support for Riko, his teammates, and friends. Injuries were tough for the Panthers to overcome. Nonetheless, it was a good season.

Thank you, HSBBWeb friends for your well-wishes and support since August.

Hey, is it spring yet??? Smile
To me this is a great accomplishment to be still playing football at this point in the post season. Every team still in it at this point is "the real deal". As a player many years ago or as a parent of two sons who played, no one in my family ever had the priviledge of playing football in December.

Congratulations to all the teams still in it at this point - there are many envious Texas high school football fans jealous of you right now.

PS - it is hard for me to drive by our football stadium and think about how the lights won't be turned on again until next September. And no, I don't count the fact that they will be turned on in January for s****r. That is a football stadium, not a s****r stadium. Depressing.

What's the deal with the **** when you spell out "s****r"??? Is s****r viewed as some kind of threat to baseball? I have never undestood this **** on this thread.

Maybe I am missing something. I played or coached baseball since I was 6 years old but I never knew s****r was a problem. I hate s****r but I don't have a hard time saying the word or spelling it.

Just curious.
