Was standing around with group of parents, a question came up,I did not know answer to, wondering if anyone here knows. I have a hard time finding specific enough answers on NCAA site. If player has already signed to play summer ball, but wants release from school he's at, can he still play summer ball if released?
I don't want to give them inaccurate info. There is a bit of a language barrier also. I asked them if the had a computer and they do not.

I'm not 100% positive, but I don't think the NCAA would have any issues with this situation. For instance, I know of Junior College players that have completed their two years of play and haven't signed with a four year and have played on teams in some of the better summer leagues.

I can think of two possible scenarios that may be more likely than the NCAA having an issue with your situation. A specific summer league may have a rule in their by-laws that a player must be on a college roster. More likely I think would be the summer team and/or summer coach would have a relationship with the college coach that got him placed on the summer team, and with the player no longer on that college team, the summer coach or college coach may want a different player filling that summer roster spot. That situation may be addressed in the contract the player signed with the summer team.
