i allways had thought that legion baseball was the only thing to play in the summer.i know in different parts of new england other programs are just as big or bigger, sr babe ruth,sr LL, etc, having talked with some college coaches over the last few years. most of them don't care what you play as long as your playing,d1 coaches as well.what's the thinking on this with you guy's .just wondering what the thoughts are on this.

baseball......a big business disquised as a little boys dream.

The summer team and Fall showcase team you choose means alot in your recruiting process. High School ball does not mean that much these days. Ask any college coach where they do there recruiting. In fact playing for a highly regarded summer team like the Bayside Yankees Midville Redskins, Florida Bombers, East Cobb Yankees Etc almost GUARENTEE'S you a scholarship to a College. So go play for a legion team you tell me how much exposure you get there
UNCP,
Some Legion teams have a great record for placing kids in college. Problem is.... you have to live in their territory to play for them. Legion teams such as Newburgh Nuclears, Boyertown Bears, State College, Pa. and Brooklawn, N.J. can play with any of the teams you mentioned above. Also, Travel teams mentioned above can be VERY COSTLY to play for, so thats one thing to consider. Next, your son has to MAKE the team,(you just don't sign up) and then get playing time to be SEEN. Go to good showcases.... Play for a teams that have connections and have fun. If your son is that good he will be seen.. and recrutied

i wasn't looking for a place for my son to play, was trying to get a feeling for what the northeast thought's were on this.i would say in our area for the most part colleges that see you in the summer were looking at you anyway, once in a while they are looking at someone else and may see someone else they like. they also attend the state and regional tourny's at years end .i was wondering if it's like this in all of new england?if not what's it like in your area?
