Summer collegiate league question

My 2015 son is a pitcher in a collegiate summer league. Do pitchers typically have to show for all games or are they told what games to come to. My son was told he is starting Saturday, so obviously he wont be pitching in Monday or Tuesday's games. He doesn't want to ask, he is just going to sit back and see what the older guys do. I was just wondering if any of you could share what is typically done. The college league started already but he is still in HS and still has finals, prom, graduation Etc. This month is going to be tough.

Normally, I would say show up unless the coach tells you that you don't have to. However, given his circumstances, with the school stuff going on, he should talk to the coach and ask for permission to miss. I would think with all that going on, they would be willing to accommodate him.

Thanks I agree he should mention it. He of course doesn't want to seem selfish. He would never just not show up. Games are over an hour away, then they want them there an hour before, then the game and the travel time home, all told was over a 6 hour ordeal tonight. I only asked because I noticed only 4 pitchers were there tonight, So I think maybe there is something we do not know yet. My son got in an inning in relief at least

I dont think it's selfish. I think it's the reality of his situation. Especially since he probably wouldn't be pitching those days anyway. Graduating from HS is much more important than a few summer games. I can't see that it would be a problem.
