Has anyone ever played for their states junior sun belt team?Im thinking about it for the summer, and would need to sign up for the tryout in late march
Wow. That just doesn't sound right. In AZ it was as described by Diamond Dog AZ. Son received a letter of invitation to play, not to try out. It cost us $0.
I totally believe you, futurecatcher27: just am shocked that kids would have to cough up $200 for a tryout.
The California team does not charge for a tryout, it just chooses the top players, but it is a great event and when we went, it was highly scouted by schools and scouts.
The Missouri HSBCA charges $60 for the showcase/ tryout. If chosen for the team, the player pays only $200 for the travel, uniforms, week at the tourney. So I imagine the tryout fee pays for the tryout facility and helps with the team's costs.
I help the AZBCA with player selections. We don't have a tryout here. The AZBCA selects the players based on recommendations and then scouts them during the HS season.
