I thought the officiating was so-so tonite. Since when can an NFL player go from full-speed to completely stopped in less than two steps? Also, I felt they needed to at least take a look at the last actual play of the game up top. Not saying they would have changed the call, but I do feel they needed to look at it.

Exciting game in the second half. I actually had fallen asleep in the first half and woke up as Warner threw the interception that led to the Steelers touchdown to (eventually) end the 1st half.
I predicted each team would score five times. I missed by one. My score prediction was 31-27 Steelers.

Game for 3 quarters: D
4th quarter: A
Commercials: Too loud where I was to hear a lot, but didn't seem great
Halftime: A ... saw my daughter dancing on TV **
Extras: Won a Super Bowl sweatshirt at the party for knowing Mr. Rogers was voted the most famous person from Pittsburgh.

** You have friends in right places when you get a free ticket to the game in the 6th row.

"Roughing the sissy" is a penalty needed to protect a vulnerable player from injury but also the hardest to call because of the degrees of intent and potential. What can you do about it?
rz1 and Bulldog am I correct in assuming you are talking about the roughing the passer call on Big Ben? If so I thought it was pretty weak call overall too. He had no chance to stop nor veer off and he didn't hit him as hard as he could. It's got to be a no call.

How many thought Warner's arm was going forward on that last play? When it happened I thought it was a good call but not sure. Saw the replay during the game and thought it was a good call. Saw the replay on SportsCenter and thought it was still a good call. Reason being is that I felt the hit kept the arm from going forward, ball comes out and then the arm comes forward.

Anybody think differently?
coach, yes the one of three personal fouls on that drive. The roughing the quarterback penalty I definitely thought was wrong and I was actually thinking Intentional Grounding because he didn't get it back to the line or scrimmage AND there was nobody near it. If anything, it should have been the 5-yard variant "running into the quarterback" and not the 15-yard. The penalty for running into the holder was also a questionable call I thought. Again, momentum forced him into the holder. Also, it was after the play so why did it result in automatic 1st down?

About the arm.. yes I thought it was going forward. Until it was pulled back by the defender. But it was going forward and Warner was moving the arm in a forward motion; it just got stopped by the defender causing the ball to come out. Like I said above, I don't know if they would have changed the call, but I felt they needed to at least review it...
I thought the running into the holder was a good call because he is completely defenseless but not sure why they got a first down out of it.

It's funny how two people can see the same thing and have different opinions on it. I still think it was a fumble but I agree with you it should have been reviewed. The bottom line on ESPN said the replay booth official said it was a fumble but still just for the sake of looking like they considered everything they should have reviewed it.
If the defender would have come from the other side, I would agree that the holder was defenseless. In this case, he was able to see the guy coming the whole time. And I still think momentum played a big part in the contact...

The last played should have been reviewed longer than the 2 seconds that it was.. I'm not a huge fan of replay, but if they are going to use it for everything else, then I think one of the deciding plays of the Super Bowl is a good one to look at Wink
A little of both Spizz - I think Pittsburgh had a great gameplan to shut him down and they did. But once they got a lead they went to deep cover 2 which played softer. Plus the Cardinals made a great call by running the double out routes to freeze the two safeties and running the seam route open.

The average fan is probably saying "why not run that route the whole game" but they don't realize it took the Cardinals that long to set it up and the Steelers had to call that coverage to make it work. If it was really that easy then there would be a lot more scoring.

I'm going to disagree with you a little Bulldog. The holder's job is the be in that position to hold the ball. While he is down there he cannot look up and see where people are coming from. It is the defense job to make sure they do not run into him.

It's the same as on a punt or the actual kick - aim for in the spot in front of the kicker. You played football and I'm sure your coaches taught you this as well. The defense knows it's their job to not hit the kicker and the holder. If they take a path which leads them into either one then it's their fault.

Also, saw on SportsCenter this morning a great angle from behind that shows Warner's arm wasn't going forward at the hit. Still agree should have been reviewed though.
FloridaFan, the reasoning they gave on that was the it was after the possession had changed. Once the ball crosses the line of scrimmage on a punt, it is considered a change of possession.

Here's an example:

If the punter has the ball blocked and the ball goes behind him, a member of the punting team can pick the ball up and try to run for the first down. If the punt is not blocked, then the punting team can only "down" the ball at whatever point. Like on that punt, they downed it at the 1-yard line.

I agree with what you are saying though. Why didn't the field goal count and the penalty be assessed on the kickoff instead of giving the Steelers a first down? The ball had passed the line of scrimmage...

Coach, I agree with what you're saying. He was late getting there... he was on the right path if he had been a little faster.

Coach, Apply for Maddens job
Steelers killed me last night...

I had Steelers 7 Cardinals 0 and had that first TD stood and not get overturned I would have won $100. Course Had tomlin had guts and gone for it I'd have collected most likely too! Then to add insult to injury the final score was 27-23. Well add those lost 4 points and it is 31-23..I also had Steelers 1 and Cardinals 3...so lost out on $160 with that one!!

God I hate the Steelers!! They can't even score a TD without it being reviewed every time!!

aaaaggghhhhhhh!!!!
One of our daughter's softball team had fundraiser with squares and it was "mandatory" to sell (purchase) a rather large amount----not so much of a "fundraiser" as part of the team fees, but I digress...

We were at a friends' home to watch the game and didn't take our sheet with us.....and rooted for the Cardinals, complained about that last touchdown....complained that it should have been reviewed, etc.....

And then came home to find that one of our numbers was AFC--7, NFC--3.... Paid for the new pump for our boiler, which went out last week.... Yea!!!!

A very wealthy college friend got to invite a bunch of his friends to the game. His dad kept the luxury box for his friends. Originally she thought they would be sitting in the box. She sat in the 6th row. Some of the people up front were allowed to go on the field for the concert. When I texted to confirm it was her, she said a camera was right on her.
