Switching things up

Don't be afraid of failure. If you are going to make a commitment to hitting left handed, the only way you will get better is by doing it.You may want to talk to your coach and make sure he is willing to give up some average to make you a better player in the future.

If the coach doesn't want you to bat from the left side during the season, perhaps you can convince your summer coach to let you do it!

depends on what side you feel more comfortable on. I bat righty MOST of the time but i also could hit left if the team needs me to (Maybe late in the game with a man on first and i needa hit it past the right side of the infield to get the guy to 3rd) Maybe you should want to bat righty all of the time and maybe get some practice on lefty so u dont lose that touch and when u need to you can bust out the lefty and give your team that winning edge

Switch hitting catchers are few and far between. You've got three years to perfect it before the next level, and who knows, you might even turn out to be better left handed.

Look at Chipper Jones. He's a natural right hander, but so are 90% of the pitchers he (and you) will face. Repetition is the key, it's what got him where he is today. You have to commit to it though. Don't just do it against the weak pitchers. And make sure you coach is OK with it, you don't want it to cost you playing time.

You sound like my son who graduates in 2007, except catcher is the only position he doesn't play. He looks smooth left handed too and began to hit well this past year and has been gaining a lot of confidence. That's the key...believing no pitcher can beat you.

if you real want it do it and switch when situation calls. If it doesn't pay off in situations you might reconsider. It could become a detterant.
