I know that the runner can leave to advance as soon as the ball hits the outfielders glove even if he bobbles - it's the OF responsibility to make the catch. At least I think that is how it is.

My question is lets say a ball in the gap and the left fielder tries to stretch out to make a running catch but after the ball hits his glove it shoots out and goes up in the air. The center fielder is also running towards the ball and he ends up making the catch for the out.

Can the runner go when the left fielder makes contact or would he have to wait until the CF catches it?

My thoughts are that it's the same rule as above - he can leave once the ball is touched.
