I was wondering if it would be a bad thing to do if I asked my coach about a position change.--Here's my story.

All through Little League and up till HS ball I've been seen as a decent ball player with a great glove and an average bat. I've hated this for years. I always play the field and get pinch hit for. As a freshman I played in 8 games and had only 4 AB's. Anyways I've been hating (really, honestly hating) fielding, but thats the only thing my coach ever lets me do. I have no fun at all fielding, in my book it straight up blows. I get so nervous and screw up. Today in my first game i made 2 pretty bad errors (got spiked at 2B and threw the ball away to first and dropped a ball that I lost in the sun).

Would it be out of line to ask to strictly be a pitcher (there are a few)? Im the only back up 2B man, but there are a bunch of guys who could play it as well or better than me.

Pitching is the only reason why I ever liked baseball and if all I get to do it field then I really HATE baseball.

Do you pitch now?

Are you good enough to be in the rotation?

Do you seriously work on hitting?

Did you give 110% on your latest fielding outing?

and finally.......

Do you really want to be a team player or is baseball for YOUR enjoyment only?

Tough questions but those are the hardest ones to honestly answer

-Yes (fastball low to mid 70's good slow curve and ok changeup best asset is having great control)
-Not sure--I think I am
-Yes and Im getting a lot bigger and better and am getting more power (batted .314 on JV last year and .485 on a rec team with a few bombs)
-Well giving 110% is not possible, but I do try as hard as I can
-Well best case scanerio is that I could help the team while doing something that I have fun doing-pitching.

As for EH--the answer is absolutly no. I love pitching. There was one game I threw a few years ago that I got absolutly SHELLED (something like 13 (8 earned) runs, 11 hits and only like 2 or 3 K's in 4 IP) I bounced back an threw a complete game 5 hitter and had like 9 k's and no walks in my next game. I have had my share of pitching failures and still love it.

I don't think there would be harm in saying this:
"Hey, coach... I been thinking and I'd like to really focus on my pitching. Of course if you need me at 2b to help the team I'm there for you; but pitching is my passion and I want to really excel in that area. I want to help the team on the mound... Whatever you decide; I'll give you all I have; this has just been on my mind and I wanted to be honest with you."

Good luck.
Sure you can go to your coach and offer to pitch. Make it a positive exchange. Don’t say: “I hate to field and would like to pitch.” Instead, you should say something like: “I’ve been working on my pitching and might be able to help the team on the mound”. You also might plan on getting to practice about 15 minutes early for a few times to practice your pitching with the hopes that the coach might just “happen” to see you pitching.
Best of luck.
