First time headed to CWS and to play in Triple Crown Slumpbuster tournament. For those that have attended, what is the ideal part of town from hotel perspective? Wasn't sure if it was best to stay right at TD Ameritrade area and drive out to various fields for the youth games each day or stay in area closer to youth games and drive/cab it to TD Ameritrade. Currently looking at Embassy Suites downtown or Embassy LaVista.
Any info appreciated.

We were at the Courtyard Omaha-La Vista. The drives weren't bad at all, the hotel was nice as well. This was the hotel that the team setup through Triple Crown, so never really looked around.
Depends on your budget. In 2006 Embassy Suites hotel was 350, breakfast separate, a night, and you had to pay big time for parking. You might want to try Lincoln or maybe in Council Bluffs in Iowa. In Bellevue, there is a Best Western we moved over to, it served it's purpose.
My suggestion is to stay near your venues and drive out to Ameritrade. It is very expensive to stay in downtown Omaha.
We stayed at comfort inn for 150/night. It was just ok, lots of kids running around as you would expect. Drives to places weren't far and I didn't have trouble finding parking. Staying where you can walk to the CWS may be nice though if you don't mind to spend the extra money. General admission seats meant standing around outside for a long time if you want to sit in the open bleachers. Though it depends on who is playing and how much of a crowd they draw. If you don't want to stand in line, you may want to invest in physical seats.
was only there once, my opinion is stay close to the ballpark, walk to the games, the baseball being played is secondary to the world series. the venues you play at are spread out anyway so even if you book a hotel near one you are still going to drive. plus it is Omaha traffic is very little issue.
We were fortunate enough to get to see all 3 games of the Virginia / Vandy 2014 series... the baseball has been long forgotten (actually we played great so that is isn't 100% true) but it really doesn't matter, however the series will never be forgotten. What a great couple of nights we had there!!
Make sure you check out the stockyard part of town, I think that is the name. lots of bars, restaurants and whatnot. it was like 12 or 15 blocks from the ballpark.
We went when it was still at Rosenblatt. Can't remember where we stayed, but don't remember it being a bad drive to the Stadium, though parking at Rosenblatt was likely a lot less headache than it is downtown at Ameritrade. We had some bad luck....CWS got rain and had to reschedule....as did our tourney so we only saw a couple games at the CWS....was really disappointed, but unfortunately in baseball, weather is always a problem. We stayed at an "average" hotel with an indoor pool, which with 12U kids, is really all you need.
If money is no object and you want within walking distance of TD Ameritrade, the Hilton Omaha is a great place to stay. The area with all the bars and restaurants is called Old Market.
The Embassy LaVista is a nice hotel, in a newer area. As another poster stated, TC does HQ and have all tournament merchandise in the convention area of the hotel.
I have had good luck staying in both the Sheraton and Marriott near 680/Dodge and they typically have more reasonable rates, if you get them early.
It really doesn't matter where you stay in Omaha as most fields are within 10 mins, north or south of I-80 and you can drive from Council Bluffs (east) to Millard (west) in 20 minutes. I wouldn't really consider Lincoln as it's another 40 miles or so beyond the LaVista (southwest suburb) area.
I have taken teams to this tournament twice, the first time was the last year Rosenblatt was still hosting and then last year at TD Ameritrade. From a logistics standpoint, the new ballpark is much friendlier with parking and ticket accessibility. The new park has 4 to 5 times the GA seating capacity that Rosenblatt had and costs $5 per ticket. The lines for the bleacher GA's are not that bad except for the opening weekend or when LSU plays, then it is extremely long and you do need to get there early to assure you get in.
As for hotels, most anything downtown will come at a premium during the CWS. Demand is high but if you'll push out about 10 minutes from downtown, you can find some decent accommodations between $125-150 per night, breakfast included. Decent is the operative word but like someone else referenced, kids will be everywhere at any hotel in town those two weeks. Parking is plentiful downtown and traffic flows surprisingly well so for those on a budget, a 10 minute drive will save your parents a few hundred on hotels for a 4 or 5 night stay.
