Kellerdad - I'm new to the site, and I just had to respond to your post from Aug '05 ref the TC World Series in Grand Junction:

Quote:
"The Heat should have won the tournament, they were the best team there. The tournament for whatever reasons didn't require the winner of the losers bracket to double dip the winner of the winners bracket. The Heat came home with pitching, and could have easily played another game."

The Arlington Heat is a very good team, but they ran into a very hot team in the Colorado Springs Jets. The Jets played 10 games total, 6 in two days - so give them credit. Any team can lose any game on any given day.

Yes, the Heat knew the rules going in, and thanks for accepting that; but the Jets earned the win by beating pretty good teams from Farmington, NM, IL, and KS. Teams don't win, just by showing up.

There are a couple of ways I could respond. I could take the high road and tip my hat to you and your team.

Or I could respond that The Heat lost only one game in the tournament. That the tournament had screwy rules that allowed a team to win a double elimination tournament against a previously undefeated team with a single win. I could also state that in my opinion that if the Heat played the other team 10 times, the heat would win 9 of them. But they lost the one game, having previously outscored their opponents 56-2...not by just showing up. Hey, they lost. They have gone on with thier lives, and learned a valuable lesson from that loss.

I could also comment on you bringing up a post from months ago, just to hammer on me is childish.

But, I think I'll take the high road and move on with my life.

If they would like to come play some real competition, tell them to come to Dallas and play in a local tournament with the likes of The Dallas Tigers, Dallas Mustangs, DBat, Dallas Dodgers or the McKinney Marshalls.

But bring your A game, because you will need it.

Now I can go back to being nice.

If you old timers notice that Ticket5 is new to this site. He just became a member on Oct 22. He was probably doing some reading and came across a post that he felt the need to respond.

Once again you old timers bashed a newbie. GREAT JOB!!!!! I hope that when I become an old timer I can bash people without getting into trouble with MN-MOM. Or maybe I will be an example of what the HSBBW is trying to accomplish.

KD, So much for taking the high road.

Good post txdad06. Ticket must have hit a raw nerve. Roll Eyes
HSBBW is a mirror of the real world -- sad perhaps, but true -- bashing newbies, followed by bashing old timers. Actually, I didn't see "bashing" in either case -- we're bored, I guess.

target5 -- keep posting, you'll find one side of the fence or the other -- and a cast of characters here.

txdad06 -- thanks for the constuctive post, as always. Since most of your posts occur in other forums, it's nice to know you're keeping an eye on things here. worm

I suppose this happens every year, just before we have REAL baseball topics to discuss. Is it January yet?

The early signing period ends soon -- I'm sure us friendly Texans will have plenty of congratulations to share. Oh, and Kirk -- you need spellchecker! Big Grin

Peace.

txdad06 and FrankF, thanks for noticing my "newbie" status - and I guess I did hit a raw nerve. AND - this is an older topic - The original post went into all kinds of DFW baseball political issues - separate from the TC WS.

KellerDad - There's little debate on the number of good teams in TX vs. CO. Your hypotheticals still don't support the Heat being a better ball club (9 out of 10 times?) I don't think so - I saw both teams play - if the Heat had pitching left, why didn't they use it in the last game of the WS? The Jets closed w/two very good pitchers (to mix it up) and there were very few errors in the game; and all earned runs on the Jets' part.

KellerDad - You are right, the Jets will need there straps on tight in TX, AZ, FL, or GA - but they should compete. DFW has 4M+ people, Col Springs has about 350K - no brainer there.
- where did you bash a newbie? Come on now. Later again.
I am going to side with Keller Dad on this one. IMO, after going back and reading KD's post a few months back, I don't think this was sour grapes. He was asked how the Heat did. He summarized what happened and provided his opinion of a TX team on a TX message board. Sour grapes would have been posting his thoughts on the Colorado board, IMO.

If ticket5 wants to come to a TX message board and challenge KD on his opinion, fine. He should then be ready to take some heat. He has taken the heat without getting personal. I for one respect that. However, this is a TX board KD is talking about a TX team and TX ballplayers. I first and foremost support the TX ballplayers 100%!

I personally know of other instances where KD could have shown sour grapes last summer, but he didn't and was even very gracious on this board when talking about other teams (in Tx) that beat the Heat.

PD- if you see any misspelled words or smiley faces used inappropriately, could you edit for me? Smile
