Our family hosted a TCL player last summer and it was a great experience. Prestonwood may have plenty of hosts within their church/school family to cover all the college baseball players that come in for the summer but if your family loves baseball and you ever have the opportunity to host one of these kids it is very fun and rewarding for the whole family.

During my low minor league seasons, I always stayed with families that would let players live with them for the summer. I stayed with some wonderful people who I'll never forget. I would recommend to anyone in the Plano area, if it is feasible for you to do it, have a kid live with you for the summer. It will be a memorable experience that you will cherish. good

Amen! We are having fun keeping up with our summer player, we have traveled out of state to catch one of his collegiate games this spring...he has become a second big brother to our sons, it was great mentoring for them. (except that he taught my sons to sleep 'till noon every day Smile)

If any posters are interested in hosting..contact your nearest team.

Cheap,

Back in my day, noon was early! boredom I still have a hard time going to bed before 1am!! I've always been somewhat of a night owl and I have always blamed it on my minor league days. That's great about your experience with the college kid. Lot's of great memories. It was fun hearing stories of some of the families I stayed with of some of the guys that made it to the big leagues. Learned lots of scoop on them!! bothered
OP - That's what he said..."Noon was early!" I swear he could sleep through anything...the house could be on fire at 10 am and he could have slept through it! It also messes up your eating schedule...we knew every restaurant that stayed open past 10:00 on week nights. When they go to the fields at 3:00 for a ball game they are starving by 10:00 pm (or midnight for the away games)!

My family has hosted TCL players for the past two seasons and has had the pleasure of meeting some really great kids. We follow their teams and their individual progress as closely as we do our own son's.

The player that we hosted two years ago is virtually a family member now; we love him like a son. We catch his games every time his team plays in the D/FW area, have planned a vacation around his conference tournament schedule, my wife even sends him "care packages" (food, money, Wal-Mart gift cards, etc.) about twice a year. He recently proposed to his girlfriend (who we also love); we were the third people that they called told, after calling each of their parents.

We hosted three different players last summer, each of whom were only with us for a short time due to injuries and post-season tournament play. Even though they weren't with us all summer, we still grew attached to each of them and continue to correspond with them via e-mail.

Hosting a TCL player has been a great experience for everyone in my family and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who has the room in their home. We will be hosting again this summer and look forward to adding another member to our extended family.
