Recently received an invitation for son to attend a prospect camp run by Team Illinois Baseball Academy. They apparently select the top players from this camp to invite to play for Team Illinois Baseball in the summer. Does anyone on the message board know anything about the team or the people running it? My son is set for summer 2011 but wanted to know what kind of opportunity this might be.

Thanks Mood! One of sons HS teammates called the coach and they are apparently looking for 4 or 5 players to round out the roster. 70+ invitations were sent out to players - many from the October showcase at Judson. For what its worth, I received one positive comment on coach and coaching style from parent of player on team last year.
Team Illinois is run by Tom Seibert. The program is a great program if your looking for somewhere for your son to play.
Practice time can get intense at the beginning, but calms down when Tom has everyone on the same page.
Our son played for Tom for two years and he enjoyed playing for team Illinois. He was injured this Spring and we decided to pass on playing summer ball in 2011. We needed to allow him to heal so he is ready to play fall in college.
The program has had some competitive teams. The players mostly come from the fox valley area but we have had kids from City teams, Indiana and some towns even South of Joliet play there.
Four members of the Kaneland HS team that won the 3a state title this year have played on team Illinois. In two years at least a dozen players have been recruited to play college ball.
You don't get short changed on what your kids get taught.
