For those who don't know, this Peter Gammons interview with Daniel Nava begins to show a part of a  wonderfully remarkable and uplifting story.

From a player who was less than 5' and 100lbs as a college freshman, was cut, became the team manager and eventually hit a grand slam in his first MLB AB, to almost being released by the Red Sox, this is an amazing story of tenacity and effort against about all the odds that college and MLB scouting can generate.

Our son knows Daniel as they trained together one off season when ours had finished his 2nd Milb season and Daniel was training in hopes that someone/anyone might give him a chance.According to our son, what this interview does not come close to telling is how hard Daniel Nava has worked and how much he has sacrificed along the way before he sat down with Peter Gammons.  This is a great, great baseball story.

'You don't have to be a great player to play in the major leagues, you've got to be a good one every day.'
