I guess things have changed since I played HS football. This wouldn't have even made it on the radar.

Is some of this because it is Craig James' kid?

Did they even have helmets when you played ???
The truth is beginning to trickle out. This has to do with playing time. Apparently the kid is crying to daddy about unfair treatment and Craig James calls the coaching staff constantly lobbying for playing time for his kid. I guess he thinks the Tech program is there just for his kid. And he is using his moderate celebrity on ESPN to plead his case.

Shame on him for this (didn't he play for the SMU "slush fund" teams?) and shame on the the Tech AD (Gerald Myers) for not investigating this thing thoroughly before acting. I am a Tech alumnus and this has the appearance of being handled by bumbling idiots...embarrassing.
Gerald Myer's was looking for a way to get rid of Leach, now with this little tid bit coming out was the perfect oppurtunity and today was the day to pull the trigger before the bonus would take effect. Although I'm sure he couldn't do it all by himself, he had to get the approval from the board and chancellor. Wonder if now the young man from Denton Ryan will look elsewhere.....hummmm

The firing was to pre-empt the hearing, which would have resulted in an injunction allowing Leach to coach Bowl game, and a major black eye to Tech administration.

As a Tech alum, I see the entire thing as shameful. Daddy James has a long history of being a publicity hound and grandstander/blow hard. But, this was just the "incident" Myers needed to make the move he had long wanted to make. It's both money and personally motivated.

Tech will now begin the quick slide back into laughingstock status. Just watch those recruits who de-commit, and begin exodus to other schools.
