A teenager was fatally injured Friday night in a weather-related traffic accident in south Irving, authorities said.

Jerry Hux,17, died in the crash. The accident happened when the vehicleskidded on wet pavement and slammed into a tree at Hunter Ferrell and Luper roads, near MacArthur Boulevard.

Two other teens in the vehicle were hospitalized, but their conditions were unknown.

Feb 9th and 10th IBBA will be hosting a baseball tournament in memory of former IBBA player Jerry Hux. We are taking teams of all ages, 5 - 14, and will form the brakcets as the teams are registered. I think Jerry played at Nimitz HS. Can someone confirm this. Thanks

Yes, Jerry Hux did play at Nimitz, as well as the other boy seriously injured in the accident. It was a very difficult service yesterday for all who knew Jerry - both within and outside of the Irving baseball community. All three Irving High Schools were represented by their payers in uniform and their coaches, as well as many others who had played with and coached Jerry during his time in the IBBA. Please keep his family in your prayers as they deal with this tragedy.
