CD,
I posted it because when I read that (about the academic criteria for the coach) it was the most ridiculous thing I had ever heard. This coach took a team to Omaha.

You are one of the best but sometimes worry too much about being a bit too PC. I do not see what is wrong here. Am I missing something?

While I applaud the University of Tennessee's desire to promote high academic standards, this little requirement in the official job description was problematic when it came to Serrano. Ultimately I don't know whether Dave would have made the move, or not. He stated that he really enjoyed his time in Knoxville during the mid-90s. There's no doubt, though, that hiring him would've been a public-relations coup for Tennessee. He and his Anteaters were the national darlings this past week.

That made the job tougher for Raleigh. When it all shakes out, most fans will forget about the disappointment of not landing a "big name coach", provided Raleigh's teams produce on the field. Raleigh can greatly help his cause by working hard to reach out into the community. One of the critiques of Delmonico was that he was too aloof when it came to local involvement.
