Baseball Opens Season in South Carolina This Weekend
Terps to play Coastal Carolina, Pittsburgh in IMIChotels.com INN-vitational

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Maryland baseball team opens its season this weekend in the IMIChotels.com INN-vitational in Conway, S.C., the fifth straight season in which the Terrapins have made an early-season trip to the palmetto state.

The Terps open at 4 p.m. Friday against the host Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and the two teams will meet again at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The Terps finish the trip with an 11 a.m. game Sunday against the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Maryland will face Gagg in the season-opener Friday. The Terps will counter with George Washington-transfer Scott Swinson (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial). Montgomery College-transfer Jensen Pupa (Germantown, Md./Northwest) will take the mound Saturday.

Sunday’s meeting with Pitt will be the first meeting between the two programs since 1950. The starting nod is expected to go to either senior Kevin Biringer (Albuquerque, N.M./Bradley University) or sophomore Ian Schwalenberg (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown).

The Terps return all but one starting position player, and the weekend pitching rotation and closer.

All three games will be broadcast online at wmucsports.com. Fans can watch Friday’s game against Coastal Carolina line on the Internet at bigsouthsports.com. The cost is $4.95.

Have you seen the '08 recruiting class?
SRB55 saved it. I particularly loved the "subpar recruiting comment". It's one thing to rip a grown man, but these kids are working their tails off, and they're pretty good, too. My crystal ball says there's going to be a close play at first with the tall freshman pitcher covering when Va plays Md next year. Too bad Durakis will graduate, he'd gladly bunt to be in on that play. Trep are you that stupid? Are you trying to get your kid killed? You better hope he signs, moron.

Of course he took his comments down --just a little too late. Nice save SRB55, hope it sits on the bulletin board at U of MD all next season.

Was born and raised in Maryland and have always supported all the Maryland teams(Baseball,Football,Basketball,S****r). It really bothers me when someone talks down to players or their teams.Taking my son to watch Maryland play Towson next Tuesday if it's not to cold. IT's not all about wins and loses to us. IT's about the effort on the field.

Banditsbb
Lord knows how many times I have messed up.

And yes, it bothered me to. Trep acknowledges he made a mistake, and yielded.

12532....Trep's message, has really nothing to do with his talented son. AND OBTW: Need to be able to run a little bit for your bunting shanigans. However, it's been an out for some time when running inside the lines near 1b.

bandit....see you at Shipley (along with Terpfan) and dress warmly & in layers (geez it's Feb for goodness sake.....it's always cold at 2:00 pm at Shipley and just about when the first of games of college ball begins. I should be chatting with Terpfan, Clipper, the Collins, Judge and as many pretty coeds that hang with the John Goodman types. Smile

Stop by and say hello.

cheers

Appreciate your passion and knowledge of all things baseball. However, yielding and apologizing are two different things. A man acknowledges his mistakes and answers for his own actions. The man owes an apology.

The season is upon us and I hope that we can continue to celebrate the baseball achievements of all of these talented and hard-working players over the next six months. It should be a great spring/summer.
I agree, he does owe an apology, especially since he did not do his research. I'm not just saying this because I'm part of the UMd '08 class, but I wouldn't call our talent level "sub-par." How does one call a recruit who is going to play in the ACC "sub-par?" Last time that I saw the rankings, the ACC was #2 in terms of competition. NO ONE in the ACC is a "sub-par" baseball player.
Terps Starting Line-up vs Coastal

2. RF *CASARIO
3. C DURAKIS

8. SS MAYSE
9. CF PALUMBO

G1 Swinson (0-1)

The bookies, with the over-under, got the bucks on the push. Ouch on the grannie.

Game 2 (vs) Pittsburg

SRB55--
You are an excellent in-state player who Maryland is fortunate to get. You were the talk of the So. Md camp a few weeks back! Have a great senior season and good luck next year in the ACC. Pleae don't worry about people like trep, an inconsequential annoyance, nothing more.

Praying and wishing you and your family the best of the best over the difficult times.

There are several scenario's worth recognizing and potentially pursuing should you seek such.

From the advise of Federal circuit court judges to leading state and county officials and state attorney's, to college provosts and special assistants to GM, from big league managers to experience baseball agents, from D1 to JUCO's, it's time you seek and ask for help, kid. Send emme

Only a village can raise a young man.
