Just need a little vent.  We played our state semi-final last night.  We won 9-2.  Easily over half of the parents and fans of the other team left the game after the 5th inning when we were up 7-2.  Just left their boys there, losing and dejected.  They'd spent most of the game harping on the coach. We'd never played this team before, but they kept yelling that he needed to go back where he came from...it may have been his first year with those boys.  I've never seen a mass exodus of parents, whether their team was winning or losing.  Awful.

They are screaming at the same coach who led the team to the state semi-finals right? Unbelievable! At least the kids stayed and finished the game I assume?

That's exactly right... while their remarks were aimed at the coach, they were doing wrong by their own kids.  Regardless of what the coach may or may not have done, not the proper time, place or way to express their thoughts.  Really not good.

I am speechless.  Coach leads the team to the state semi-finals and they treat him (and their sons) like this?  Terrible.  They should be so blessed.  Furthest my son's HS team got was the state quarterfinals (his senior year) and we stayed to the bitter end. (Yeah, they lost).  Had I left in the 5th I would have missed the team's rally to take the lead in the 6th(only to lose it in the final inning).  Guess they missed out on the fact that any team that makes it to the final four had had one heck of a run.  Nothing to be ashamed of.

Too many parents missing the point. Yes winning is fun and the goal, but there are so many aspects as important if not more important.Everyone will lose, lose a game, lose a interview or a job, lose a loved one. Loss is part of life and teaching the parents shouldn't be part of it.

So sad they didn't support their boys and coach.

Baseball is a game to teach so many things ,so many are missing the point and it's really sad.

Such a sad commentary on the state of youth sports in this country.

Our parents and kids would have been elated to make the playoffs or even one of the four play-in games that give a team a chance to make the 32-team playoff bracket. Our high school season ended with our last regular season game, 2 ranked spots away from any chance at the post season.

Kudos to those players and coaches for keeping it classy.

A coach in my area who is in the high school hall of fame on national and regional level  coach was fired as a coach.79 years old,won 927 wins in his career.

Parents complained of his treatment of players and the loss of interest in the program was blamed on him.

Forty five years .

Coaches pros such as Bosio, Joe Horgan, Jerry Manuel, Geoff Jennkins, Randy Lerch,Chris and Nils Nyman,Max  Venerable(father if current MLB will venerable), plus few who played in the nfl, and more. The list is longer plus the ones who played college.

Too old school, parents and kids can't handle it.

I have known him since I was a child.I attended the same hs.

This is a trend where parents can't handle any negative comments made to their kids.

I heard of  another coach asked to see if he could have some grades changed so players could qualify. This was a athletic director.Coach said no and several players weren't eligible some seniors.

It's pretty sad.

My son had some real tough coaches and only one he absolutely did not like and he was fired and rightfully so. I still didn't say anything. It eventually caught up to him.

I don't know the future but good luck to these players and parents in the future.
