It is EXTREMELY hard to get an academic OR an athletic scholarship to Texas. In Texas, we have a 10% rule whereby you are guaranteed an admissions spot into any Texas public university IF you graduate in the top 10% of your class. I know of two kids that were one person out of the top 10% and did not get accepted. A fair number of top ranked baseball players never get a letter of interest... Texas is in a position of being able to pretty much pick who they want.
Yes, its difficult...unless of course you (dazzler)"gift" to the program!! or "other" connections, like family alumni heritage since 1836, when Texas won its independence from Mexico!! Big Grin Roll Eyes
Top 10% academically is correct.
UT is in a very different situation...they don't have to recruit much.
Not impossible, but very political, even with top 10% designation from HS. We know a player on $100 scholarship.
