Texas A&M Stars of Tomorrow Camp

My son went to an A&M showcase in August 2007. It was fairly crowded, but perhaps a November camp would have less attendees. He did not receive a lot of instruction there, but did get a chance to showcase his skills.

The A&M coaches paid extraordinary attention to about a half-dozen blue chip prospects that they were interested in and the rest of the attendees got the leftovers. However, the coaches did take note of others' performances and made recommendations to a feeder JUCO and perhaps other lower-level schools as well.

If your son has a high interest in A&M, by all means go. His being a 2010 means it's the perfect timing. If A&M likes him, they can track him in the spring and summer after junior year.

One thing you will want to consider is that there is a new head coach who came from Oregon State, his challenge is to bring A & M back to power and he has to compete with Texas and Rice for top players, so he will most likely use these camps to help as a recruiting tool.

Homerun04, are you referring to Dan Spencer, the former pitching coach at Oregon State? If so, he is the new head coach of Texas Tech, not Texas A&M.
