Back when my oldest son (2005 graduate) was in the 8th grade, I found this site. I started reading the recruiting timeline and posts from people who had experienced the college and professional recruiting/draft process.

I am happy to say that my 2007 son just committed to a good D-1 school here in Southern Califorina. Although it may keep me from moving back home for a few more years, we are very excited about this program and his future in college baseball.

Thanks for everything.

Dont think any of us will ever get tired of hearing about that!!!

You can say that again ssmom Smile

wvmtner - huge congrats indeed! Please let us know what school and about your son so we can follow his career!

For everyone else out there, has anyone noticed a trend this week? I think this makes at least our 3rd or 4th announcement this week and I do believe the early signing period has long since passed. Well done everyone and lets keep the announcements rolling Smile
Thanks for all the kind thoughts. After the spring my other son had in 2005, we wondered what would happen next. Don't know what this spring will bring but it's great to be at this point. Can't complain about anything right now.

He committed to Cal State Northridge. They are in the Big West. I am really impressed with the coaching staff and think they are going to be a factor in the upcoming years.
You guys are right. There are many different ways to get in

Our centerfielder the same year my 2005 son was drafted had no interest until May of his Sr year. He was drafted in the forty something round but got a offer to attend UCR on a very good scholarship. He's there now.

Our 2b 2006 player had no interest until the end of his senior year, ended up getting drafted in the 38th round and is attending the #2 ranked JC in CA.

I personally had no interest out of high school, worked for two years to save money for tuition, walked on a college team and played for 3 years.

Don't give up.

That is an awesome story wv!

Unsigned kids should remember that most rosters are not completed yet for '08. There's plenty of time. The key is making sure you've got interest and if you don't figuring out to get some!

My own son in JUCO last year as a freshman who chose to RS decided in April to switch to a 4 year. By simply putting the word out there, he was called by a DI, a DII, a JUCO, and two NAIAs. There are plenty of spots and no need for kids to panic.

I know another kid who sat out of baseball as a freshman after unsucessfully trying to walk on at a large DI. The following summer, made some contacts and had three offers from a NAIA, a DII, and a DIII. This was all at the end of July!

I truly believe there are opportunities at there for many more players than we sometimes think. It's about finding the right fit which is so very different for each player and doing what you have to do to be noticed... which again is different for each kid.

Thanks FBM. We're looking forward to the Big West

Here is our centerfielder. Pretty good for not being a big name guy.

wvmtner ...

Wow, didn't realize that was Uhl. He had a great week-end and I can't remember when a Highlander was the first BWC POW for the season. I think he is going to be doing great things out there in the 'highlands'.

Again, congrats to your son. The BWC is a great conference with a ton of great competition. Enjoy.

By the way ... where is #1 son ... early camp?
