I want  to thank all the folks on this board who have listened to my rants, talked me off the cliff and most importantly gave me solid advice that I could passed on to 2013. I can be a bit of a butt at times.

2013 is signing a NLI to play at a JUCO in Chattanooga.  Our house is two hours away and we will be able to continue to see him play and enjoy the next step.

Tonight 2013 also won our sub-state game and if his brother 2014 can win Friday we go back to the state playoffs....

I cannot express how much this board has helped my sons.

Congrats! and have fun in the future - you'll have 3 in at one time right (13, 14, & 16) - holy tuition dollars!!  and your travel budget is going to take a huge hit too!

Interesting dichotomy - player may be crushed when a coach says no, while the coach just moves on to the next player. I remember the phone call when my oldest was going through the process (his was football) - most coaches were very gracious - one was a jerk and was precisely the reason his school wasn't chosen...  It's very tough on players being recruited because in a way the feel they are disappointing the coach that's recruiting them. Not that rejection is easy for coaches, but they've "been there and done that".

I can't speak for anyone else, but I have been in conversation with bacdor for awhile about recruiting, and agree by the time his last son is done with HS he will be a master at this.

A few seasons back, I had son get tics for bacdor's family so the boys could watch a AAA game and they got a chance to meet son.

A player should never feel badly about telling the coach no, and good observation that it opens the door for another player.
