Soxnole,
One last time since you asked, it's not what's posted but how it is posted.
If you look around and read this website carefully, you will see that many of the other webster's sons are playing everywhere in the country and having a blast. They may not be playing at the best facilities, but hopefully they are getting their at bats or innings pitched and enjoying new friendships. Some couldn't care where they are, as long as they are playing baseball. Some played lots of ball in the season and just happy to be around the game. You can't assume they may be miserable because they don't play everyday. Was your son miserable because he didn't start every game, I think not. What appears to be the BEST for some, is not always better. I have been here a long time, there is sharing information and then there is informtion overload. Florida Baseball Guy (Bob I knew you wouldn't mind me using you as an example), runs a team, stays within his state (which is reasonable) or goes to the summer team thread. I respect that. And saying others shouldn't go to other leagues because the facilities are better, or they will be able to play MORE at DuPage, etc, was just not necessary. How can you make a statement like that unless you are the coach? Are you two promising playing time? I certainly wouldn't take some new posters word for it! Parents are not stupid, don't insult their intelligence.
What appears to me, I cannot speak for others, is that by DuPage (whoever he is) bringing your son's name into the picture with the league might be interpreted the wrong way. I repeat again, it's not what is said but how it is said.
Your son doesn't need that, he'll get plenty of accolades at FSU and plenty of recognition in the ACC, trust me. He doesn't need some DuPage in his first few posts to tell us what a gem he is or he crossed home plate as the fireworks went off. It's a step beyond humility as far as I see it. Mr. O'Connor, be careful, you NEVER know who is reading posts and taking note.
You asked so I told , you don't know me well, but I would say what I have said to anyone, it's not personal. Those that know me can tell you I am outspoken but I don't come here for my own, but for others as well. I don't care for those that come with agendas, that's it.
I am just trying to help you to understand a few things,. I am not perfect I have made a few mistakes and said the wrong things, we all do, not realizing sometimes that it is just misinterpreted.
Bob and TPM, Thanks, did either of you read anything from me that was "whining" about anyone from
Illinois posting on the Florida forum? Didn't think so. I think anyone should feel free to post
on any forum they feel they might add some useful information or insight to. Never had a problem with anyone from Illinois before. Played minor league ball in Quincy, Decatur, Danville, Quad Cities(Davenport,Moline,East Moline,Rock Island, Bettendorf). Lots of great people in Illinois and the Midwest. Been around organized baseball for a long time. Have two minor league championship rings A(Midwest League) AAA(Pacific Coast League). Never made it to the Majors.
Brother has a World Series ring(1985 KC Royals). He actually played for your beloved Sox and
played for four managers in four years-Bob Lemon, Lary Doby, Don Kessinger, and Tony La Russa.
I've been in old Comiskey and had beers with Harry Carey and Jimmy Piersal in the Bard Room, sat
in the outfield bleachers before games with Bill Veeck. I KNOW a LITTLE BIT about baseball AND
facilities AND people. If you (Soxnole and Dupage) don't understand what we are trying to help
you understand about tempering your enthusiasm when visiting someone else's back yard then you
will never get it. Just think about it for a bit.
BTW-Never felt the need to bring up MY past on this website-we are all equals here and there is
always someone who can and will "one up" you, but thought it might help to know that I do know
about baseball in the Midwest.

Moc1. Peace brother.
TPM. Forgive me, but what a mountain out of a molehill! So now we have the politically correct/8th grade nun point of view. Duly noted.
This is beginning to remind me of your over blown post about the ACC Sportsmanship Award winning team.
What humility? I met DuPage for the 1st time at a Dragon game less than a month ago. What he writes is his own. If he likes my son, I'm supposed to complain?

I agree that if my son was good enough to play at the Cape, that's where he would be. I'm from Illinois and even coached a game at the DuPage field a couple weeks ago. It's nice, has three bases, a home plate and two dugouts. I would not go so far as saying it is the best field anywhere. I know plenty of CICL kids and they are good ballplayers. I think that if you saw the talent at the Cape (as I have) you would not be comparing the two leagues from a talent perspective. Soxnole and or DuPage (even if you are not the same person your posts are identical) you seem to have gone a bit overboard here IMO.
Nun?
Well, there's one for the books, eh HOOTY?
