I hesitate to say Josh Beckett because he's only stepped up his performance during the post-season, and there's the possibility of him turning out to be another Francisco Rodriguez, But based soley upon his wonderful Post-Season performance I'd have to say Josh Beckett

I never threw an illegal pitch. The trouble is, once in a while I toss one that ain't never been seen by this generation

i have to say that in todays game Eric Gagne has the nastiest stuff i have seen for a while. Jason Schmidt as stated before does not get enough credit for what he does. After a year full of injuries Randy Johnson still has to be considered one of the most dominant pitchers in the game. You also cant forget Roy Halladay and Jamie Moyer

Schilling, he has experience and stuff. He and Johnson were one of the best 1 2 combinations. Now its over and Arizona is screwed.

Right now, it's Mark Prior. 15 years from now, it will be...Mark Prior. He's amazing (and don't tell me he doesn't step it up in the post season, because he was awesome.) Hes good for 9 innings, not like the 5 inning Pedro who gets hurt every season because he drops his elbow and kills his rotator cuff. Plus hes got a ++ fastball, and his curve is awesome. His change aint bad either.

Prior when healthy (even better than Pedro who was clocked at 86-89, hitting 91, but can change speeds like no one else ever will)

The best overall pitcher has to be Eric Gagne or Billy Wagner. Gagne gets the edge because he can throw so many pitches well. The best starter is Tim Hudson. He doesn't get injured and he can win 20 games in a staff with 2 other 20 game winners, Mulder and Zito.

In my opinion, being able to win 20 games in a staff WITHOUT 2 other 20 game winners would be more impressive, because odds are that team is worse (the team without the 2 other 20 game winners). However, I maintain my "Prior" pick. Sorry, had to get that one in there .

prior is definately the future and is still dominating even now...pedro is losing it

Gagne is absolutely unbelievable. He mixes it up so much and his stuff is ridiculous. He doesn't just get major league hitters out, he makes them look foolish.

Schilling is downright nasty too. I can't wait to see him pitch with a pumped Boston crowd behind him, something that he didn't have in Arizona so much.

as far as pitching ability, way have we forgotten Mike mussina, he throws so many pitches, and has one of the hardest pitches to hit, that nasty knuckle-curve.

The Big Unit Randy Johnson without a doubt. He's got stuff that just dominates.

dont forget about clemens he is a good pitcher but i think RJ is the best cuz he can overpower hitters with 3 pitches not just one

pettitte? his name shouldn't have even been mentioned here. even when he won 20 for the yankees in '03 his era was 4.02. i know im partial to the sox so i dont like ex-yanks like pettitte but honestly you guys overrate him.

Right: Clemens, Prior, Santana, it's a tough toss up, since there's a lot of good ones

Close: RIVERA. BEST EVER. YES, BETTER THAN GAGNE. He can be a force in the playoffs.

The best pitcher has to be Johan Santana. His Change up is just nasty.

The best overall pitcher in the big leagues is definitly Brad Lidge. He has unbelievable command over hsi pitches and is apparently working on a power sinker and a changeup.
