My son Jeremy has had a great experience there. I was unable to make it there to see him this summer. His host family basically made him one of their own. When he wasn't doing baseball, they took him deep sea fishing, to festivals, out to eat with them, played card games, grilled out, on and on. They are awesome and I will never be able to repay them for taking care of my boy.
He got to spend a day working out at Fenway. The opportunity to sit in the dugout where Ted Williams, Yaz, Roger Clemens, and so many more sat. To see that amazing park from a player perspective.
He got to play with some of the best college players in the nation.
He did not get to mow lawns, clean pools or meet Jessica Biel . His GF will be happy about that.
He knew, but once again, got to prove he belonged. He is leaving the Cape today to visit one last school before he makes his decision on where he will play his final year of college ball and get his masters towards his career path. He is leaving as the league leader in K and 4th in ERA. He, also, learned once again as the talent around him is better, how hard he has to work to achieve his dream of the opportunity to play pro ball. We will see where that goes. He has grown as a player but more importantly to me as a man. He is putting himself in position to give himself that best opportunity to chase the dream as well as his career after baseball ends.
He is literally on a bus on way to Logan airport in Boston as we speak, flying at 10am. He will be home Friday night at 9:30pm. I can't wait to hug him and hear about his summer experience.
