the problem is noone reports this. it is really not a big story although a great accomplishment. 4 homers in a game, newspaper worth. it could be a story in small towns 3a, 2a.
Rare, yes, how much? Not sure. I haven't seen in the 3 years I've followed hs ball. I do keep books.
4 hits in a game is a very good game, those specific four are hard even for the best h.s. hitters.
Its still newsworthy, mlb still gives it the due highlights. I have seen 3 out of 4 many times, including my son. Great game, something to have over your teammates and always a story to tell....
Here's one even just as rare:
Pitcher from Lewisville throws a no hitter vs FW Paschal and absolutely no mention in DMN or FW Star Telegram. Local weekend paper a week later put in a one line mention along with results from all three area schools for that week. Its sad that baseball sports are not as well covered as football and basketball.
This is one of the great things about Sherman. There is a write up of every game in the local paper. The two local TV stations show highlights of our home games on the 10 o'clock news. Our baseball players get more publicity here than anywhere else I've coached. Since we are having a good season so far, it's been a great experience for them.

FD, I played in Sherman in the early 80's and it was the same way then. We had over 2,000 people attend our district championship game against Denison in 83. People were lined all the way around the field and along the fences. There were always lengthy news articles with stats, standings, and mention of game highlights. It seemed like they tried their best to mention every kids name if possible. It was a great town to grow up in playing sports! Glad to hear it hasn't changed.

As far as hitting for the cycle...I think it is a great accomplishment. I have not ever witnessed it at the high school level.
