Officially in 5th place this morning.
Without Lee and 2-3 MLB starter's this could be a real battle for LAST PLACE in the central division of the INFERIOR league.

Blah blah Blah blah blah blah ......Humbug
Hey Soxnole,
If you want to write about the Cubs then at least get your facts right. The Cubs are still officially in 4th place, not 5th, 2 percentage points ahead of the Brew Crew. LOL.
But more to the point, why do you even care? Your team won a great game last night, and you've got to diss the Cubs to get your jollies. And you think that people in Wrigleyville have problems?

Hi rosy...How are things?
Hope all is well.
You are indeed correct....(ESPN.com had it wrong)..... and I was too sleepy this AM to notice.
Hold on to 4th as long as you can, that's serious optimism baby!
As far as dissing the cubs, I can't help myself...guilty and....it sure beats chocolate!

Read today Wade Miller had shoulder looked at recently, wasn't feeling right. Prior's shoulder is still healing but now he has food poisoning to push his return date further back.
Kerry Wood should be back mid-month. Cubs will need to try & keep it together till Prior, Miller, & D. Lee return sometime in mid-late summer if at all.
Got a kick out of Dusty saying Cubs couldn't hit lefties because they don't have a lefty for bp and can't seem to find one.

And this from a MLB manager.
Can you imagine?
Im a Cubs fan, but i have to agree that they are not playing their best baseball at this point in time. But callin the NL the infeior league is not a true statement. The NL plays baseball how baseball is ment to be played.
I don't know why you guys are putting silly polls like this here.
Fast...Not chasing you around the threads, but....
Cubbies have had 3 shutouts pitched against them in the last 5 games.
What has happened to that vaunted lineup of Jones, Murton, Ronny and all of the hamburger pitchers?
Tell you what: Sox need Pierre in centerfield.
Cubs are going NOWHERE this year and for the next 25 years!
Let's make a deal?
Go White Sox!

Catch1216.....check the wins/losses in WS and All Star games over the past 20 years.
Looks like the NL "meant to win" but did NOT!
Inferior is as inferior does. Just the facts.

Don't mean to ruin anyone's weekend, but do any of you Cub fans believe that the Cubbies will score a run in a game anytime soon? Four shutouts in the past 6 games!
Don't want to do a "poll" because Fastball is offended by them, but here is my opinion as to when the Cubs might score a run in a baseball game:
1) When the Cubs get demoted from the NL Central to the Nazareth Sectional;
2) When Hank Sauer patrols right field or left field again;
3) When Ernie "Let's Play Two" Banks sings during the 7th inning stretch (scheduled for mid-August);
4) When Dusty gets launched after July 1st; or,
5) When vacation season is over after mid-August and all of the out-of-towners that pack WF now, effectively reduce the attendance for each game to 6;
6) When Petrick from Morris makes his Wrigley Field debut in September.
I remember someone (shall be nameless) comparing Cubs vs. Sox lineups and pulling a "homer" for all of the Cubbie players.
Been a hundred years for the Cub fans. Will be another hundred from what I see.
------
One more chance to help the White Sox this year, Cub fans. We'll take Pierre for a couple of hot dogs and a few beers for the older guys.

Going to the White Sox game tonight. Anyone websters going there tonight?

Beenthere, we have so much in common, first and foremost Cubs fans for most of our lives.
I don't mind polls, just like them to be realistic...like most of those I've posted. Ha Ha
I'm with you, even if The Cubs manage to score a few it won't matter. The best thing you said was about Dusty getting fired.....that will be a great day in Cub history.
My trade: Dusty and Pierre for Ozzie and hmmmmm, well I can't figure out if there are any position players the Sox have that the Cubs could use, so maybe throw in McCarthy and we will make the deal. That's it.....Baker and Pierre for Ozzie and McCarthy. It's a steal for the Sox, but sometimes you have to add by subtracting.
Beenthere, throw in the ticket and I'LL BE THERE. Just make sure it's a suite, OK?

Having lived in the Brooklyn Dodgers/ NY Giants era I can safely say that those fans, as bitter rivals as they were, were more gentleman fans than you guys in Chicago---they were TRUE baseball fans who appreciated the good talent and fine plays by the opposition--they did not go around downing the talent on the other side--in fact when the opposition made a great play they applauded him
Perhaps that is why they say NY Sports fans are the best in the world--heck the Knick fans used to give MJ and Reggie standing ovations
Sorry guys I cannot see the way you guys act--

TR...This is all good-natured fun. Watch...Sooner than you can say Banks to Baker to Fondy with Minner pitching, a Cub fan will talk about attendance in the past few years.
The younger of the Cub fans don't remember a virtually empty park (WF) with 4-6,000 during the week and 15-20 thousand (tops) on the weekends.
I go all the way back to the Giants win in 1954 against the Indians. That is when I first started liking baseball and Vic Wertz (the guy that hit the ball that Mays caught).
Too, the Chicagoans will remember the Mages store on Halsted South of 63rd. That is where I went to buy my first bat (Vic Wertz model), ball and baseball glove (Carl Furillo model). Bought that 35 inch model bat and as a ten year old, I was forced to choke up!
Back in those days, notwithstanding your suggestion, I don't remember a single Dodger fan saying anything nice about the Giants and vice versa. You likely lived in a high-rise somewhere in Manhattan at that time but told everyone you were from Brooklyn.
In the 60's and '70's, every time we flew into New York, we had dinner at Mama Leone's (I think that is how you spell it...could have been an i at the end, too.).

TR...there is little if any bad blood here. As White Sox Poobah Soxnole once said "The banter is enjoyable"
That said, Beenthere didn't come up with any tickets for me so The Cell wil be filled with
100 % delusional fans again tonight....no one there but Silly Sox Fans.

That's what is needed here!
A NY guy that can teach us some manner's!
TR...although I know this not to be true, you sound like you have never been on a baseball bench in your life. Welcome to the forum where people know baseball and love to banter back and forth.
Maybe in NY it's just too darned dangerous to take a shot at someone, they just might find you and fire back!....with a real gun.
To even think for a single moment that NY has some kind of superior civility within the general public is as laughable a thought as could be posted!
In case you didn't know, I'll tell you. They can't stand NY type's in basically THE ENTIRE USA!
This should but may not surprise you, but the only place NY type's are accepted is in section's of south florida. That is only because so many of your disagreeable brethern have re-located to the sunny climes. The rest of the south florida population takes great effort in avoiding living in or dealing with these enclaves.
NY fan's are knowledgeable but any positive thought after that regarding your fan's is totally absurd. Dinner, a show and "let's get out of this dirty place" is the drill.
The best fan's in the world are right here in the windy city...where our citizen's have not fled the city and instead embrace it.
The watah is suoft and the civility is luost in Nu Yawk. You have the Yankees and we have EVERYTHING else!
Btw, I lived and worked in your most arrogant and unfreindly city. Boston was a clean breath of air by comparison.....and Chicago is HEAVEN!

A LATE BREAKING NEWS FLASH
Cubs buy White Sox
North Siders capture elusive title by purchasing champs
The Daily Heckle, Friday, April 7, 2006
After 98 long years, the Chicago Cubs are once again the proud owners of
a World Series trophy.
"It came with the team," said Cubs GM Jim Hendry, brandishing the
hardware at a press conference announcing his club's purchase of the
White Sox franchise. "When I hold this trophy, I think of all the
critics who said we'd never be champs on the North Side. Where are the
doubters now?"
New White Sox president Andy MacPhail echoed Hendrys sentiments.
"Cubs fans deserve a team they can be proud of," said MacPhail. "Now
that the White Sox are a subsidiary of the Cubs, they finally have one.
Forget 1969. Forget Bartman. Thanks to the Wrigleyville White Sox, next
year is here at last."
Terms of the deal werent disclosed. Sources say the cash-heavy Cubs paid
for the Sox with the contents of their petty cash fund normally used for
country club dues and "Donut Fridays."
According to former White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf, the Cubs were bound
to pick up a championship sooner or later.
"When you have as much money as them, you can afford to buy a
championship," he said. "And that's exactly what they did. It turns out
they were serious about bringing a winner to the North Side after all."

Gamer....lolololololololol and some more lololololol
Go White Sox!
Go White Sox!
Now that is the kind of writing we should see in our daily newspaper's!
"Quick hits" in the Sun Times has NEVER been that hilarious.

I thought Gamer was joking until I realized the Cubs purchase of the Sox came on the same day the Sox best pitcher goes on the disabled list.
It must be true! Sox wasted no time fitting into the Cubs culture. Now if the Sox can forget how to pitch, bunt, hit to the right side, and start regularly missing cutoff men the merger will be seamless.

One good thing about the Cubs playing on the West Coast right now.......They have cured my insomnia, turn on the game and I'm falling asleep in no time.
Wake me up when the season's over.
Wake me up when the season's over.
FBD,
You can wake up right now. The season IS over!
I've adopted another NL team to follow and root for so I have something to keep me in the game. I'm now a Phillies fan and think that they can give the Mets a real battle in the NL East. A person's got to do what a person's got to do.

Been, I have seen the light, and it is not pretty.
You're right about Dusty being on the hot seat, but with all his flaws a manager cannot be expected to make chicken soup out of chicken ****.
