I attended last night's game between the Dodgers and Braves, and ended up in row J, right behind home plate. When the 7th inning stretch kicked off, many of us looked up into the announcers booths, and many of us (who apparently do not go to that many Dodger games) were surprised to see Vin Scully singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" with the intensity you would normally expect from a child.

That made me think, is Vin one of the greatest because of talent, or because he has fully pursued his passion in life.

How much do you think passion has to do with greatness?

I'll tell you what a scout told me once. You can take someone with talent and no passion and they won't go far. But someone with potential and work ethic and passion can surpass even the finest.

When you look at all of the "star" athletes, they didn't get that way with no passion. They love the game so much, they embraced it. Read the autobiographies of Derek Jeter, Michael Jordan, or Kobe Bryant. (I don't know if he is the best example right now lol) Every single one of them had a passion for the game, I think it is a key ingredient to success.
