I hope it's okay to post this -- thought it might be of interest to many of our members.

My team (7-0 here in Korea thus far), received a unique donation from another poster on the site, springsteve. He was kind enough to send us two of his InsiderBat training bats. These things are cool!

When I first pulled them out of the box, my players were skeptical because they look really odd. My kid from Boston said, "I dig clams with something just like that!" Once I taught the boys how the bats are used to train 'staying inside', and how any flaws in the swing would be revealed by these bats, we got to work. They immediately saw what I was talking about. Guys who 'dip'....could now SEE the result of their flawed swing. Guys who have a tendency to 'cast'....there ya go. Guys who open up too early and leave the barrel lagging.....there's proof. And of course the guys with the solid swing mechanics were stroking the ball just right.

Pretty soon the guys were just chattering away about what the InsiderBats were 'teaching' them about their swings. Stuff we'd been TELLING them all spring was finally making sense as the proof was now in THEIR own hands. As we continued to drill, the hits got better as the kids were forced to make adjustments or continue to hit poorly in the drills.

With a lot of reps, these things can do an awful lot to teach the correct mechanics of the swing. We now use them daily. The kids use them to hit soft toss into the big net before standing in against live BP or the machine. We use semi-hard styro-balls for the drills because the bats aren't made to hit real baseballs.

I love these bats, and I hope again that it's okay for me to share this with the HSBBW family.
