My '08 son has weekly batting lessons with the top instructor in town. Some of his other students are renowned for their high batting averages, home runs, etc. My son, on the other hand, is batting .240 at best this season. He makes fairly consistent contact, but they're usually puny grounders. He is capable of much more, because we've seen it.

Son's instructor is aware of his struggles at the plate and at a recent lesson commented, "Your mechanics are perfect and your bat speed is way up there. W-a-i-t for the ball. It won't get past you." And yet, when his dad and others pitch to him at a much slower rate, he seems to be able to make the adjustment and hit it perfectly.

Last night was another frustrating night. Any tips to help him?

If you're hitting ground balls, your swinging on the wrong plane......

Now, if you're swinging on the wrong plane, you've got a body movement problem.....

My guess is that your hitting instructor doesn't understand body angles and how to load and unload properly.....

When someone tells you to wait on the ball, they really mean they ain't got a clue what you're doing wrong!!
