I thought this needed a separate topic. Jean-Jacques Taylor summed it up well in today's DMN.

I think he is right, either they are all in or they are all out with some exceptions. If you tested positive, you are out i.e. Raffy.

As for the Mitchell report, it is pure hear say but I think it does offer enough of a picture of the major leagues from the late 70's through early 2000's to know "the minority" is a large number and consisted of a lot of your favorite and best players.

I use to love Bonds and tracking his On-Base, Slugging and Secondary Averages. The way he approached each at-bat was greatness. The steriods things turned me against him. But only to the point were I said that if they put Barry into the Hall then they had to put Pete Rose in first.

So if you are one of the ones that says OUT then - No Pete, he broke the rules, no Barry, No Roger, No nobody that the writers have any idea of who used drugs, including Doc and Darrell and the like.

If you are an IN person, then if their numbers are good enough then they are IN the Hall.

I can't imagine a Hall of Fame without the best pitcher in modern times (JMO), Roger Clemens. Even if he used steriods I want to beleive it was recover from injury or only during breif periods and not often. In which case, he didn't get "caught" so he is IN. JMO

Meatsdad,

It's time to start inducting some of the truly worthy people into the Hall. Buck O'Neill, who recently passed away should have already made it. Players like Andre Dawson for example and others.

Let these guys sweat it out about 15 or 20 years. When all the steroid stuff dies down later, induct a couple at a time. It will unfortunately be known as the steroid age of baseball as these players chose to cheat finally make it into the HOF. That should be penalty enough for most of them, if they live that long.

Huh? Are you saying Clemons should be IN since he didn't get caught by MLB? Although it makes me sad too, I think this should affect Clemens legacy even if he was not technically "caught".

Barry Bonds has never failed an MLB drug test (to our knowledge) so does he get a hall pass too?

if we put steriod users in there lets not forget the Blacksox, Shoeless Joe and Pete Rose

IF Clemens had not used - would he be thought of like he is today?

The whole thing is frustrating as it filters down to the kids.

I actually had a parent tell me they bought and gave their sons steroids and was looking for HGH - and he was serious

I hope there are no parents on this site that allowed or gave their kids the juice

it would be interesting to hear the coaches opinion's on how much they feel actually exists in HS Baseball in the area or is it all hyped up and not that many kids do it
