A Mohel who had been performing circumcisions in his community for close to 30 years was slated for retirement. During his tenure he had kept for prosperity all the foreskins he had removed from the babies brought to him in a bag.
As his retirement approached he decided that he would take all the accumulated foreskins to a highly skilled leather craftsman, some distance away, and asked him to make him something that would help him recall all the wonderful memories associated with his lifelong profession.
The leather craftsman looked in the bag and remarked, “I have just the thing for you”, come back in 3 weeks.
The Mohel could hardly contain his excitement as the 3 weeks came to a close. Finally the day arrived and he went to the leatherworker’s shop. The leatherworker was very excited also by his handiwork and he presented the Mohel with a small change purse!
The Mohel could not believe his eyes, he was incredulous! 30 years performing circumcisions and after all this time all you could make for me to remember my years of service was this small change purse!!! The leather craftsman tried to calm him down and eventually was successful and explained that all he needed to do was rub it and it would turn into a 10 piece luggage set.
