Hi all, I'm sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but my searching has proved fruitless. In doing research for various showcases (as well as camps) I have seen several different terms to describe the elite programs: "select" and "advanced" are on the HSBBW website's recruiting timeline.

Of course I don't expect any showcase to advertise itself as insignificant or bottom-of-the-barrel, but is there anything I should be looking for as a tipoff that it might not be the best...other than a sticker price that's too good to be believed...? Or, more helpfully, how do people around the message boards refer to those inferior showcases? Thanks in advance.

From 16U and down you look for quality coaching/instruction and quality competition. At 17U you look for the best college exposure based on your son's goals and  coaching staffs with quality reputations and contacts at the college level.

Do your homework. Investigate teams. A coach may tell you his team does PG events at East Cobb. But it won't do your son any good if he's on a weak team without college contacts playing on a back field against weak competition.
