A friend of my husbands is very good friends with 2 MLB pitchers. My husband was shocked to hear that in january they hadn't even started in the gym yet.

They are both millionaires and on the rotation and only an injury will keep them off.

So I am thinking, with that set up how hard do those players really have to work until they get to camp? You already have a multi (or more) million dollar deal going for years. Then maybe, just like kids, you try to do everything at once and you get hurt?

They don't work their butts off in camp either. They don't all have to. That's the difference between arriving and trying to find your way onto a MLB roster. The established MLB player (not one who has not yet gone to arbitration) already has his $$ future guaranteed. Is why the average time spent in MLB is only 4 years.

My understanding is that when milb players hear the Big Leaguers are hurt, it gets the players pumped.
