I'm sorry. I'm as proud to be a Virginian as anyone, but can the Tidewater area actually support a MLB team? If so, that would be great, but I just don't see it.

I agree. I think it's just for bargaining purposes, kind of like Portland was for the Nationals

I can tell you that it is NOWHERE CLOSE to happening. The Marlins called for info and it was given to them.

That area cannot support a MLB team. I-64 would be backed up to Richmond every home game night and Nationals are too close. Not gonna happen IMHO.
Played close by there in Newport News for Carolina League Class "A" team and not very much support from community for baseball.
Traveled over to Tidewater to see a buddy of mine play "AAA" for Richmond Braves at Tidewater during All-star break and not much support there either.
Nice to dream though...
