After reading the paper today and seeing the game stats there, it makes me wonder if that was the same game I was watching...These coaches call in these great hitting stats that are totally bogus, at end of year they post these awesome averages for kids that came nowhere close to hitting what was posted...Its a shame for the kid who truely hits for a great average and never gets the kudos he deserves.

For the most part, all of the coaches' kids I know can play. Why not put his name out there and let other coaches determine his fate?

I don't know any in the Beach but there are 2 in the SED and both of them deserve consideration.

Sorry, bad choice of words. Didn't mean their actual children, but members of their team, padding stats, etc.
I have argued over and over the d**n family member of the players has no d**n business being involved in the at high school coaching level!Any district that allows parents to help coach,KEEP THE BOOK,work the practices is just like saying debbie and johnny are just friends.Boys do not have friends that are girls and parents coaching are not fair on hit balls, called balls,or any other negative mark on there childs play.I have witnessed this in my district and it is a complete turn-off.Can you say fielders choice, error, and strike-OUT!Parents are simply there to help keep the field crew materials paid for if not in use of them and nothing more.Certainly, all can be cordial to the coach and even stop and discuss the welfare of the particular child, but never should be associated with coaching decisions.I also enjoy the folks that are Scouts, you know the type. They all know somebody that knows somebody and they are going to put in a good word for your kid,Ha!Give them a bat and a glove and do it the old fashioned way,Show me! angry
I am no expert on this, though it COULD be true that some coaches do manipulate stats etc, I doubt that they do to certain points. Anywho, most colleges do keep an eye on high school stats, but most of the work that the coaches and scouts see for college ball is during the summer with their AAU or Summer Travel programs....Is this not correct? Please correct me if I am wrong. The game book is alot tougher to do than most parents or fans think... It can be easily misinterpreted or messed up.

But seriously...Is it REALLY that big a deal?

No...my question and subsequent post was directed to the OP who has not shown back up in this thread. Hence, my comment about a driveby.

As for stats, they are relative to the level of competition. College coaches rarely, if ever, REALLY care about HS stats. They are irrelevant.
