Can someone carify how the colleges can host exposure camps, with other D1 coaches in attendance, during the quiet period? Thanks.

If the early signing period is 11/10-17, when can the coaches send the NLIs?

I'm new to this process and am confused. The PG national underclass showcases are during the "quiet period" over the holiday week and then in early January. Does the quiet period defined above mean that no college coaches will be in attendance? How does that work? Jr. is thinking about going to Ft. Myers instead of a "camp" at one of the schools he is interested in. If no college coaches will be there it might impact his decision.
Thanks for any input as I try to get my head around this stuff.

Contrary to popular belief, the quiet period was not created to protect the athlete, it was created so that colleges and coaching staffs get a break from the expense and time away from family of the recruiting trail. As such, the NCAA didn't want to legislate away sources of ancillary income that are so important to assistants to help make ends meet. For that reason, instructional camps, where the coaches attending are paid instructors, are allowed during the quiet periods. These are not "exposure camps", as no recruiting is supposed to occur. ...so what is the Dead Period (starting today) designed for?

Dead Period is a time when the college coach may not have any in-person contact with the prospective student-athlete or the prospect’s parents at any time. The coach may write and telephone during this time.

But a coach CAN call or email...with or without pressure.

CPLZ: You are incorrect. This is straight off the NCAA website. There can be phone and email contact.
