Thoughts on Swing

Your son looks very good, nicely balanced and it appears that you have an excellent foundation to build on.

It appears to me that he may be only utilizing the power in his upper body right now. A little more loading and explosive power from the lower half (core down) is what I would develop next.

I think you have a good looking player there who is doing a lot of things very well!

Have fun, every step of the way! This is a great time to enjoy being a Father with a Son.

He drops his back elbow down, which is good. But, as he does this, his bathead isn't moving back.

Agree with floridafan that he has a nice swing and basic mechanics including a good bat angle at load and nice collapse of back elbow on initiation of swing after loading. Unison of back elbow with back hip during initial rotation of entire back side including back hip and hands is very good. As mentioned, really firing that back hip will come with reps, time, and more strength.

The swing and contact at 20 seconds is the best (and actually the best of all the pitches). He did a good job as the pitches were definitely all over the place

Looks pretty good for a 12 year old. IMHO As floridafan mentioned, need to work on getting the lower half of his body (from the hips on down) involved in the swing.

Take out the pause. It should be one continuous motion.
