I just turned 15 and am a Freshman QB. I've been throw a football for at least an hour 2-3 times a week not counting practice/games.
After not pitching for 3-4 weeks, I pitched today and I seemed to be throwing harder and long tossing farther.
Im just wondering does throwing a football build arm strength and is it good or bad for your arm?
Should I long toss a baseball also or would that put too much stress on my arm along with football?

When I was a freshman I was the backup QB on the freshmen team so I threw a football a lot during practice and stuff. That spring my arm felt amazing. my sophomore year I didn't play football and my arm didn't feel as good as I wanted it to be that spring. I don't know if throwing a football helps but in my case it might have had something to do with it.
A word of forewarning -

I played quarterback my first year of high school and during the summer I once went straight from football camp to a baseball game.

What I noticed :
1. Arm felt GREAT. Felt very loose and like I was throwing hard.
2. The radar gun didn't really indicate observation number 1.
3. My arm slot really changed. There is little variance in the throwing motion of a football, and top level quarterbacks throw over the top. This translated to the baseball field. I was throwing as far over the top as possible.
4. I could not throw a strike. This is probably due to the new arm slot and how free and easy my arm felt.
5. Throwing a football effectively requires use of the entire body. I think it may be a good foundation for baseball players that rely solely on their arms.
