For Years, I’ve been throwing from the outfield at a 3 quarter slot, a few days ago I started throwing with an over the top slot and noticed much more carry and zip on the ball from the outfield. Does anybody know why that is?

simple physics of spin.  Assuming you get straight thru the ball, 3/4 or sidearm results in a spin with some horizontal aspect.  Over the distance of a long throw, the result is a side tail and downward movement.  Not ideal for accuracy, carry or time-to-target.  Vertical reverse spin will stay straighter and carry more.  To 3and2's point, ideally, an OF uses some slight body tilt that allows something close to a straight over top release while, in effect, maintaining a natural arm slot.
