Just now watching the Rangers White Sox.  Rangers at bat with R1.

DP grounder hit to infield.  R1 forced at 2nd.  On the throw to first, the ball glanced off R1's hand -- and still made it to first in time for the DP.  Never seen that before!

My question -- if a ball thrown by a defensive player strikes the runner, does it become a dead ball?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't -- and they didn't call it in this game -- but just wanted to check.

Tommy John blew through that stop, but if they called that, LaSorda would still be out there.  Bob Davidson would have balked it for sure.

Tough call on the intentional drop.  Piniella smoked that ball.  Russell may have been handcuffed, or he may have known exactly what he was doing.  I can't tell from the video.

I think the announcers give Reggie too much credit (even though he is a self-proclaimed genius).  He didn't even know he was out.
