On tonight's 7:00 Baseball Tonight show, TK noted that David Wright and Ryan Zimmerman were being reunited on the NL All Star squad after playing on the same travel team in HS. Also noted that B.J. Upton was on that team and a third All Star, Justin Upton, was their bat boy! TK went on to note that BJ is a likely future All Star, as is Mark Reynolds, from the same area (and former UVA teammate of Zimmerman as well, though they didn't mention that).

Kurkjian attributed that to "the tremendous talent in that area of the country" or words to that effect.

If you missed it, it should replay on the midnight edition.

The media seem to always confuse this story.

All 4 players were on the same fall showcase team, believe it was the team coached by Lee Banks, that was called the Tidewater Mets. This area also had a second showcase team - Tidewater Whitesox for which Verlander and Rupe and other professional players played for.

Wright and Upton were once teammates on the same Blaster team and then Upton moved down an age group and played for a younger Blaster team alongside Mark Reynolds. Zimm played for the Drillers and Reynolds also eventuially became a Driller, older age group then Zimm. Towny organized the Blasters, but the Blaster players above were coached by others.
