As much as many appreciate Coach VZ's proposal, it won't make much difference.
1. Southern and western programs will NEVER travel north for away games. They call it gate$$.
2. The schedules start with OOC first, then conference. Even if that was reversed, meaning the warm weather schools would play the second half of their schedules OOC when the north warms up, they won't come. It is called GATE$$.
3. By the time the 2nd half of the college season is upon us, the RPI's are nearly set in stone. A loss by Duke against North Carolina gets them more RPI points than a win by Western Michigan over Youngstown State?
4. Unless every northern team had a dome, not much will change, therefore:
The NCAA bids should go to each and every regular season conference winner, every team with 40 plus wins, and then they can dole out the rest to their beloved RPI teams.
Simple and fair. Northern teams only want a shot at the crapshoot tournament, but the ACC and SEC bottom feeders get those bids.
Therefore, a college player should relish a conference ring, and anything else is gravy!

How valid are the RPI anyway, Fresno was 89 going into the regional playoffs and finished 46 after winning the CWS.
I agree with Oldslugger but a question is what do you do with some of the very weak conferences.
