Would anyone know about the time these league start and end? The situation is: daughter is getting married and wants to set a date for next summer(2011). Son invited to be in wedding and we really want him to be there. Looks like these teams play a ton and this would be sons first go around with a league like this. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

We are a hard core baseball family- missed a cousin's wedding because we already had flights/reservations for a tournament (for 1 yr). That said...there are certain occasions that even supersede baseball!! I think a sister's wedding is one of those. Just plan it for what works out best for the bride/groom. I can't believe a summer college wood bat team would begrudge a player a short break to be in his sister's wedding.

Congrats on the wedding and college plans!

Thanks for the responses. Dtrg. already decided after world series. We are a hard core BB family too. Dtrg. played from 5yo through College. Now sons turn. Would even consider flying him in for 1-2 days and then back out if need be. Good idea to go ahead with planning dates. Other thoughts/experiences on this would be appreciated.
Most of the college summer leagues try to start early June, some of the players who are still in the playoffs tend to get there late, as well as, those who are still in school.

Most of the leagues go to August or send some of their top teams to the NBC World Series which go through mid-August.

Some leagues like Northwoods and Cape Cod don't send their teams to NBC World Series but have their own playoffs which also go to mid-August.

Dale's Summer League Central has links to the different leagues.

If they really want to schedule the wedding around college summer league, the last weekend before Labor Day may be a good solution, other than colleges starting.
