Tips for hitting with wood bats

I like the taped handle on my wood bats. Good thing about wood bats is the help you to learn how to hit the sweet spot.

Pine tar or stickum with some batting gloves. If you can, try a maple, you'll never hit with ash again. I did a bat review on a maple that easton sent over, first time hitting a maple and I loved it. It adds about 10 to 20 feet to a fly ball.

Because of the shattering, they recommend you hit against the grain with the maple.

Only drawback is cost, but I figure you'll break 2 or 3 ash bats during the lifespan of the maple.

Hit it on the fat part of the bat.

Have label either facing you or away from you.

Bats break a lot off the end of the bat.

Find the sweet spot with a hammer. There are actually 2.

Fewer grains at the barrell the better.
