A couple of weeks ago my son's college team had Pro-Scout Day where several Pro Scouts were in attendance during several of the team's inter-squad games and workouts. As the players arrived at the field, some of the 2005 draft eligible players were wearing Pro Team Jackets, such as the Braves, Cubs, Dodgers, etc. My son has a Pro Team Jacket as well but I encouraged him not to wear it that day since the scouts would be from many different pto-teams. I'm probably a little more sensitive than most people and I felt it would be kind of disrespectful.

Did I over react? I know that if a scout, for example, from the Dodgers is interested in a player it does not matter that he shows up wearing a Yankees Jacket or does it? Just curious.

I agree with the Fish on this one: During Bullwinkle Jr's HS career I felt it was in his best interest not to wear any College Cap or gear until he signed his intent. (example: how do you think the USC scouts are going to react if the kid they are scouting is wearing Stanford gear?)Rivals are Rivals....

Now Pro is somewhat different, but yet the same. Jr was interviewed for a newspaper article, and was asked who his favorite MLB team was. He was quoted "Any team that drafts me is my favorite team!" The scouts that I talked to thought that was a great answer.
My son came home from college the other day after a work out......he had on a Boston Red Sox cap, a Hagerstown Suns Minor League T-shirt and St. Louis Cardinals warm up pants....

I always encouraged my son at showcases to wear his HS or American Legion Uniform (complete). Not so much as to not offend any college or pro team, but to present a uniform baseball appearance.

In umpiring there is a saying about appearance, "they see you before they hear you"......A professional appearance for Umpires and players is a good first impression to make.

There's alot to be said for loyalty and I feel that most scouts would love to engage in a conversation with a prospect about who they've grown up cheering for.......Chances are, said scout will know many of the players mentioned and the conversation goes on and he could care
less what you wear.......

Going to a college camp in the competition's gear is another story.......IMO
