Rockwall at Plano East at 5:00. Looking forward to it. Classy program and classy coach at East. Lackie is scheduled to throw, along with a junior named Clinard. Both are big bodies with good arms, and high-character kids. Moseley is on the weekend schedule to stay ready for Game 1's in the 3 upcoming tourneys and will probably not throw until Friday, if the rain holds off.

The Swami is back. How about some predictions????
Marcus vs Newman Smith at 4pm at Kelly Field.

BAD NEWS: My son fractured (chip at the joint) his ring finger/pitching hand last night during fungo so he is out for this scrimmage, the one at your place KD and until we get to the ortho. maybe till district. WHAT A BUMMER for him, he had started off so strong this first season on Varsity to have this minor setback.

I told him on the way home from the ER, it is just a finger, it could be worse (elbow/shoulder/acl)......but to him, today, it is the world... tomorrow it will all be just a finger.....
Ok Rockwall crowd -- as you drive back to east Texas Smile I'll provide the recap. By the way, you all travel well -- you might have outnumbered the home crowd tonight.

The Jackets and Panthers played 11.5 innings or so tonight to a virtual tie (2-2, I think). The visitors batted once more than the home team. The pitching was dominant -- hitting was sparse. Clinard and Lackie both looked very good as did their 3rd and 4th guys (sorry, I lost track of the names). Moseley pitched a strong inning at the end. The '07 and '08 arms will only get better -- they will become more dominant. Both kids had a number of strikeouts.

Richards, Emens, Hamar, and Roberson pitched well for Plano East. The hitting was fairly even as well. PE's Snider (3) and Slater (2) had multiple hits. I think Clinard had a few hits for RW (unless there were more than one wearing #10).

Rockwall has an excellent team -- their coach, kids, and families are class acts.

Changeup and Swami, it was great to meet you guys....it sounds like there were a few others there that decided to remain anonymous. Even in a practice game there was a strong spirit of competition. Smile Fun stuff. I've had a lot of fun here over the years with the Rockwall guys -- missed swingdoc and Clemente21 and UTPANAM tonight (although I know he was there).

Anyway -- good job Panthers! -- a strong scrimmage -- progress towards the first tourney. applaude

Jackets -- good job as well.

Thanks Texan, looks like 2 weeks in a splint, go back to see how much longer after that (1-3weeks more).... hopefully a quick heal it is killing him to think he won't be playing or practicing these next couple of weeks........

Marcus scrimmaged Newman Smith tonight and there were a lot of errors on the NS side. Got to finally meet Baseballmom, had a great conversation and then got to watch her son Preston just KILL the ball!

Marcus, as a team, hit the ball well, pitched well (tried out all but 2 of our pitchers), good defense till the end and the score was Marcus 20 something to Smith's 2 or 3... One HR by a Marcus Jr. in the first inning.

It just wasn't a good showing from a Smith team that has alot of talent and history so it had to be a one off....

Keller looked good against Hebron. The bats came alive and most of the starters had a multiple hit game. Vanlandingham, Trip and Medlin all had doubles and Edwards had a triple (he also had 4 RBI).

My son went 4-5 with an RBI and I am very proud of him for his strong start this season. (It takes a lot for me to compliment my son by name on here, so you know I'm a proud dad Big Grin )

The pitching looked very good after the guys got warmed up. Edwards pitched an inning to shake the rust off and was throwing BB's.

Nobody was keeping score, but after the first couple of innings when Hebron scored I think 4, I don't remember them scoring another run. Think Keller had over 10 runs, but again, not for sure.

On to Coppell Friday if the weather holds.
