Just got a call from an excited son. The age old question posed to every parent..."Dad, guess what I'm doing?" ....
FUNGO: "I have NO idea ... WHAT?"

SON: "I'm playing MYSELF on playstation"...

FUNGO: "Whadda ya mean?"

SON: "I'm on Playstation NCAA 2006" "Everybody's there!"

FUNGO: "Really?"

SON: "Ya know what's really cool?"

FUNGO: "What?"

SON: "I just hit a 400 ft bomb off of Luke Hochevar!"

FUNGO: "How much does it cost?"

SON: "I don't know but I'm buying one tonite!"

FUNGO: "Just another marketing strategy...."

...To be continued....

That's all old hat...I was cutting edge years ago.

I would take a paddle ball, the kind with a little rubber ball attached to a long slender length of rubber band, and glue a mirror on the face of the paddle...played against myself all the time...can't remember who won most of the time...doesn't really matter I suppose.

The cool thing was that whoever picked it up and played with it...they too were able to play against themselves...amazing!
dirol

Seriously...that's way cool!

"Do they look like the player?"
I can't tell on my 13" Black & White. Where are my glasses? alieneyesa

I think the players have been digitally enhanced. They all look like Ricky Martin. Smile

EA Sports went around and took photos of the various ball parks. Apparently you can set your line ups and put games on in the parks of your choice. Sounds cool to me. All I need is a game player, I guess. call
Are this Players names on the game, are do you install them yourself?
With just generic players,Rt. Hand, Lf. Hand Batters?
It seems to me if the players names are on there that would be exploiting!
Also if the NCAA is making money on this game for baseball, there should be more than 11.7 schollys!
What do you think. EH
This game is cooler than I thought!

They even have a "fan contest". You can find it in the loge section. I am there along with several of my webster friends. The game allows the user to control what and how much we eat and drink.

If you overfeed us - we make a mad dash to the restrooms and miss two innings.

If you give us too much too drink - we are escorted out of the stadium by team security

I think the trick is to pace our consumption.

Early reports from Chapel Hill raise very real concerns about the viability of the impending regular season...as UNC's players are too caught up in the virtual season to do anything else!

Meanwhile, my son is ticked off that they assigned his character a stamina rating of only 60 on the 100-point scale. At last report, he was writing EA Sports to give them a sense of his workout regimen! Big Grin
In response to your questions, theEH:

We've been told that the NCAA prohibits the use of the players' names; but, that the numbers and stats are accurate from the 2005 season. Reportedly, they also take the player's general descriptions (height, weight, etc.) and fashion characters that conform to those dimensions. So, it's as close as they can get without actually using names.

I'll stop there, as it's far too late for me to get riled up for the umpteenth time about college baseball's growing revenue stream and the NCAA's insistence that scholarships be held to 11.7.
News Flash, someone goofed! They have Clemson #47 RHP pants rolled up!

Prepster,
Please tell Robert when he calls to bring to their attention. CU Tigers are NOT allowed to roll pants UP!

Just as in Chapel Hill , Clemson also might get caught up in a virtual season.

Just think we could all attend Virtual Omaha at the end of the season!
Awesome game. I just wish they'd show us D3 guys a little love sometime. HA! I talked to a buddy at Indiana today and before I could even say anything about the game he told me not to be him becauase they made him worse than he really is. He was having fun with it, though. I have only one complaint about the game. There's a problem when a batter swings and misses. The problem is that he looks like a softball playing (no offense girls). Every time, every player, the hands get too far out in front and it just looks goofy. But oh well, at least we have the game. I do love the challenges for sponsorship deals, too. Great stuff!

agree Mom's side regarding the talent, but that smile is DAD'S all the way hyper

lol - thanks, but if the game is as good & accurate as you say, I'll be flanked by my nephews/niece - - 25 pretzels would be just a "warm up" drunkard

What, no DIII schools on the game?

Okay, we're going to assert Title IX.5 (shouldda read the fine print) and contend that henceforth, there shall be no discrimination against small schools. So what if the big boys are on TV and bring in all the money that makes the whole system work? (and doesn't that sound like part of the Title IX debates?)

So bring on the games-we want to see Shenandoah Conservatory of Music play Lincoln Logs College on ESPNU, we want national press coverage, we want.......

Aw what the heck, I'm just waiting on my game to arrive so my 16 year old can clean my clock on it, like he does with everything else on PS2.

Who gets the revenue, the NCAA or the individual schools that
are being used?
Is it being spread amoung all the NCAA, Div. 1, Div. 2, Ect.?
I'm just playing the advocate here.
But would like to find out if they, The NCAA are exploiting the Schools Involved.
It seems like they promote The top Baseball Teams, and are those teams getting more money then the rest?
Come on NCAA more Schollys!
